VoIP
Self Hosted Phone System
Voip Lab
My journey into the world of VoIP began one day at school when I noticed a Cisco 7911 IP phone on a teacher's desk. I was intrigued to find that it was connected not to a traditional phone line, but to an Ethernet port. At the time, I thought Ethernet was solely for internet connections, and this discovery sparked my curiosity.
I decided to dive deeper, and soon after, I found a Cisco 7911 on eBay and ordered two of them. After months of research, I realized I had chosen one of the more challenging phones to work with due to its somewhat proprietary nature. I discovered FreePBX, an Asterisk-based phone system, and found a way to integrate it with my Cisco phone. When I finally got it working, I was thrilled. From then on, I spent any money I had on more IP phones. Today, I have a collection of around 30 IP phones and hands-on experience with systems like Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco CallManager Express (CME), FreePBX, 3CX, and more. I've even had the opportunity to install and manage several FreePBX systems for clients, which laid the foundation for my knowledge in telephony. To this day, I continue to develop on FreePBX, constantly learning and exploring new projects. My latest project involves creating a script that allows me to dial a number on any phone in my setup and hear the uptime status of my servers.
